Appleton Estate
Appleton Estate — Jamaica's Oldest Rum Estate
Founded in 1749 in the Nassau Valley of Saint Elizabeth Parish, Appleton Estate is one of the oldest and most respected rum producers in the Caribbean. The estate covers over 1,000 hectares of sugarcane in one of Jamaica's most fertile valleys, producing its own molasses and controlling every step from cane to bottle.
Appleton is synonymous with aged Jamaican rum: their portfolio spans from accessible blends to rare single cask expressions that rival the finest aged spirits in the world. The rum is pot-still-heavy and rich with the tropical funk and fruit that defines the Jamaican style, but Appleton's particular strength lies in its patient ageing — their cellars hold barrels that have been quietly developing complexity for decades. The legendary Joy Spence, the first female Master Blender in the spirits industry, shaped the modern Appleton character.
